About

Amy Moodie is a Toronto-based singer, actor and teacher. Her 2023 season began by performing the role of Dircé in Cherubini's Médée with Opera in Concert. In November 2022, she performed the role of Giunia in Opera in Concert’s performance of Lucio Silla. In 2022, she made her Toronto Operetta Theatre debut as Franzi in A Waltz Dream and Glita in the world premiere of A Northern Lights Dream. Other performances from 2022 include, revisiting the role of Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance with COSA Canada and performing contemporary opera scenes with Tapestry Opera for their Songbook XI Concert.

In the fall of 2021, Amy collaborated with A Good Mess Opera Theatre for their A Good Haunting virtual haunted house. She has been a prizewinner at various competitions including, first place at the Toronto Mozart Competition, The American International Czech and Slovak Competition and the NATS Artists Awards. Other Recent performances include: Despina (Cosi fan Tutte), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Emma (Fierabras) and Semele (Semele).

As an active performer on the concert stage, in operas and in musicals, Amy has been seen as Voluptua in La Pizza con Funghi (Yorkshire Opera Workshop), and as Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance (VAOP). Other credits include Millie in Thoroughly Modern Millie (CMTP Toronto), Sister Robert Ann in Nunsense! (Orillia Stage Company) and Anne Egerman in A Little Night Music (Halifax Summer Opera Festival). Amy has given recitals in Toronto, Barrie and Oakville and, in 2017, premiered Side Road Swamp by Karen Lee and Francis Ubertelli as part of the Sounds of Silence new art song project at the University of Toronto. Amy has been engaged as a soloist with Symphony on the Bay and KooGle Theatre, with the King Edward Choir of Barrie, The Oakville Choral Society and many other organizations. She has been seen on screen in national commercials and is the singing voice of Sofie on Little People (Family Jr.)

Amy holds her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the University of Toronto where she studied with Professor Lorna MacDonald. During her Masters, she was a two-time recipient of the prestigious Richard Bradshaw Fellowship in Voice and Opera (2016-2018). Amy further studied vocal pedagogy with master teacher Jeanie Lovetri and completed teacher training in Somatic VoiceworkSM The LoVetri Method at the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah University in 2015. Amy is a graduate of the Etobicoke School of the Arts where she majored in Musical Theatre. Her musical theatre training also includes intensives at Circle in the Square Theatre School (2009) and the Stella Adler Studio (2014), both in New York City.
